Ha, my girlfriend and I just saw him last night. He wrote the same thing in my book and I thought that he was calling me fat too :-). He drew a picture of a cat in my GF's book though. Loved the readings and your blog!

Alright, I am weeks late on commenting on this post, but still - great post! It must have been so exciting to see David Sedaris. That really is like meeting a rock star! And I know I would have blanked out when he asked me what I was reading too. Lol. = )

Also the "Lazarus Project" is way at the top of the TBR list now!

And, I did't get Twitter either until I finally joined about a week ago. What I love about it is that all of my book blogging buddies are on there and whenever I log on they're always having some interesting conversation about blogging or reading. It's really addictive. Although, tweeting while you're meeting an author is kind of rude. Besides, come on! It's David Sedaris!

My hubby and I are seeing David Sedaris on May 1st here in Seattle and I had never thought to bring a book for him to sign, and now you have me all aflutter about the possibility of a conversation regarding what I am reading or should read. The pressure is on!!! Thanks for the advance warning.

I was curious, so I Googled it. Here's what a fan in Denver had to say:
http://synecdoche.us/2008/06/22/diabetes-is-for-lovers/

Perhaps it's some sort of marketing build-up for an upcoming movie. Maybe Amy's in it. You never know.

Your post makes me wish I'd gone to see Sedaris when I had the chance a few years back. Sounds like a great experience!

There are so many aspects of your post I relate to! I, too, have annoyed my husband by laughing out loud while reading David Sedaris in bed. I would have been annoyed by the iphone tweeters. I have blanked when asked what I'm reading by people whose opinion I care about. And I would have made that connection between the diabetes comment and my weight :)

Glad you got to meet David Sedaris--what a thrill!

Har! I also become all addlepated when talking to celebs. It's too bad you didn't think of telling Sedaris that you were going through a Dostoyevsky phase, and you could have rattled off a couple of opinions about The Brothers Karamazov or something. It's early Alzheimer's, I tell ya'!

I don't twitter either. It seems way too narcissistic.

David Sedaris is the only author that my husband will actually read VOLUNTARILY. Oddly enough, it was He that introduced ME to Sedaris! Go figure.
