A Life In Books

Another Day, Another Challenge

Another fun-sounding challenge that I couldn’t resist: Annie’s What’s in a Name Challenge, which requires reading six books over the course of 2008 that fit within one of each designated category. Instead of letting my pride dictate my choices, I’m being smart this time and cross-challenging many of these books, although I still reserve the option to swap my choices out for other books as my reading mood dictates. Click on any book cover for more info on that title.

1. A book with a color in its title:
2. A book with an animal in its title:
3. A book with a first name in its title:

4. A book with a place in its title:
5. A book with a weather event in its title:
6. A book with a plant in its title:

It is brillaint to cross-challenge the books.
See you at the finish line!

Yeah, I should have been doing that all along – I might actually have finished a challenge or two!

    Yup, the insanity continues. ;)

Oohh…I’ve got Jonathan Strange & Mr Norell, and City of Dreaming Books – yet to read though. I’ve made it through 1/3 of My Name is Red and gave up. No reason, other than something else came along, and promiscuous me flitted away. I’d love to hear what you think of it.

That’s what’s happened to me – twice now, both with Strange and Red. If I don’t get to them this year, I’m just going to give up.

Ooooh, I loved The Tea Rose!!! I can’t wait to read the sequel.

Good luck with the challenge. I’m tempted, but didn’t do so well with some this year (your Travel Challenge, included – too busy these days!), so I’m not sure I’ll join ANY in 2008.

I seem to have better luck joining, not so much completing, the challenges. Maybe this one will be different!

I contemplated on reading the sequel to Tea Rose (Winter Rose) for this challenge, but I chose a different book (still want to read it of course!). I also want to read My Name is Red–I think that sounds so good. Great choices.

Well, since I read The Tea Rose early, I’m going to put reading The Winter Rose towards this challenge. Good luck!

    Hello!

I’m stopping by to let you know that I’ve set up a separate blog for the What’s in a Name? challenge. I hope you’ll be able to stop by once in while to see what contests are going on and to leave links to any reviews you write. Thanks again for joining!

Thanks for letting me know – and for hosting the challenge. It sounds like great fun!

    Awesome!

Can I reference this at my site? I think it would be a great challenge to my readers!

Let me know if this is okay!

Yes, fine by me – although you’d probably want to link to the original challenge. :)

I keep wavering about whether to do this challenge or not. It’s such a fun idea! I’ve been meaning to read My Name is Red and The Tea Rose for ages!

I can attest to the enjoyment factor of The Tea Rose, having read it early (oops), but My Name is Red is one I’ve been meaning to get to for ages, so hopefully I actually will this time.

Oooh, this one sounds so fun. Too bad I’m incapable of finishing a challenge! Trying to get back into blogging, so hopefully I’ll be stopping by again soon.

Hey, I’ve missed seeing you around! Although I’m sure things are understandably hectic over there. I don’t even have the excuse of two babies and I’ve not managed to complete a single challenge this year. ;)

This is indeed going to be a fun one. You’ve chosen some really good books. I was looking at that Bryson one the other day and definitely want to pick up a copy of that.

That’s another one I’ve had on hand for awhile. I’m hoping I enjoy it as much as his travel writing.

Oh, dear, more good titles to contemplate. I’m especially interested in My Name Is Red, and I will eagerly await your review.

You and me both! I’ve been meaning to read that one for over a year now.
