If you’re reading this, chances are you have a blog yourself, or at least know what they are. But what about RSS feeds, LibraryThing, Flickr, wikis, tagging, and podcasts, just to name a few snazzy technological gizmos?

Well, the Public Library of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County, one of the most advanced public library systems in the country, has launched the Learning 2.0 Challenge, an eight and a half week project where you will learn about all of the above and more. Although the program was designed for PLCMC staff, it is open to the public. The main site includes a link to an FAQ, the outline of the 23 Things, and a participant list. If any of you work in libraries and want to share this with your staff, you are more than welcome to do so.

Note that the MP3 and laptop drawing are open only to those of us lucky enough to be PLCMC staff, but as I commented over there, the prizes are just icing on a very sweet cake. I can’t wait to learn more about this stuff! For simplicity’s sake, I set up another blog just for this challenge, where I’ll be following along and posting my progress. If you do decide to join, you might want to do the same. I believe that a blogger account is required to participate, as that is the platform they’re working from.
